One cliché of the personal finance space is the whole “stop ordering latte’s” thing. I don’t personally care about latte’s, I’m not sure I’ve ever had one, and I trained myself to drink black coffee because anything else seems like wasted calories.
Another, more recent cliché is the idea that you’ll know you made it when you can afford to order guacamole with your Mexican food every time. Basically, dropping the extra $1 to $3 doesn’t phase you.
Well I’m here to tell you that I’ve taken that advice to heart and I’ve been adding guacamole to my Mexican orders for at least a year, and here’s what I’ve found out:
Lots of Mexican restaurants make really bland guacamole.
Bland guac really ruins a meal. I’ve actually stopped ordering the guacamole on my food and started ordering it on the side so I can watch myself throw away $3 when it’s terrible.
